Let me introduce you to Coasts. Coasts are a 5-piece band originating from Bristol U.K, and have had decent international attention with their two biggest singles "A Rush Of Blood" and "Oceans". Personally, I've been listening to Coasts for quite some years now and as most Coasts fans were, I was extremely excited when they announced a full length album coming this fall. Now let me explain why Coasts fans have been long waiting this album. First of all, Coasts started in 2011 and have released somewhere around 5 EP's in that time with the majority of those EPs featuring Oceans, time and again. They have released more than enough songs to fill an album but have yet to do so. Although fans have been long awaiting an album the fans are still loyal due to the well written, alternative indie rock songs Coasts have brought forward. Last week on facebook the band announced that the long awaited album has been postponed a few months but for a good reason, to continue to build hype for the Self Titled. Their single "Oceans was recently featured in the Fifa 16 soundtrack and new people are constantly discovering the 5-piece. With this in mind, Coasts and their label Warner Music decided to postpone the album to build up more hype. I like many other true fans will patiently wait for this album to be released and hope for major success. On a sidenote, here are my top 5 favourite Coasts Songs.
1. Wash Away: A slower darker song in contrast to what Coasts usually puts forward, but extremely well written. It starts mellow and as it reaches the climax tension is continually building with lead singer Chris Caines belting desperate but heart filled lines like "Would You be the one to wash away?". This song reaches an epic bridge in a Coldplay fashion but building a much stronger atmosphere.
2. Wallow: Coasts first great song on their first great EP. This song has an extremely catchy beginning along with an epic chorus making for a diverse, and enjoyable song.
3. Oceans: Easily Coasts most succesful song. Oceans, features lyrics about a love life that began right by well, the ocean. Caines explains in detail about his affection for this mystery girl seeming more focused on her body and skin than her actual personality. Regardless, the song is by far the catchiest song and makes for a great Alternative Summer Anthem. I can imagine it being played anywhere from a stadium with thousands of people to an acoustic set with 10 people while always remaining just as great.
4. A Rush Of Blood: This song was actually released twice. Personally I enjoyed the first release and was surprised when they removed any trace of it on itunes but when they re-released it I definitely understood why. They turned what was once a good song into an unbelievable song accompanied by an interesting music video featuring hippies travelling, definitely an interesting combination.
5. Stay: An incredibly uplifting and anthemic anthem. This song was also released twice with the second being the better but the first also being enjoyable. The only word to describe this song is summer.
6. Modern Love: I had a tough time choosing between this song and Stay so I included this briefly. This is a stadium song featuring a groove a little different than the majority of Coasts songs (aside from Let Go) it is all in all a great song and a prime example of the alternative sound.
