What we know about Flor: the new Fueled By Ramen signee

Fueled By Ramen is every hipsters favourite post punk alternative label featuring superstars such as Paramore, Twenty One Pilots, Panic! At The Disco, and Fun. Although a relatively small record label compared to giants such as Sony, Universal, and Warner they have consistently brought forward more than their fair share of skilled alternative artists. The newest of these artists as of January 6th is Oregan 4-piece Flor.

Flor is originally from Hood River, Oregon and consists of members Zach, Dylan, McKinley, and Kyle. One of the most interesting things about Flor is that they record all of their music in their own house instead of paying for a professional recording and they do a great job of it. Of course, we will see how this changes after being recently signed to a major label. The band has been uploading singles and their sole EP "Sounds" over the course of the last year and all the meanwhile gaining a decent underground following. Their knack for catchy riffs, tastefull synths and haunting melodies make them an intriguing listen for all indie lovers. Not too much is known about Flor as of yet. They have a small following of about 4,000 on facebook meanwhile their biggest single "Heart" has reached over 750,000 streams on spotify. Flor also has been anounced to be the opener for Halsey's up and coming tour which will surely lead to an increase in following. Between this and joining a label with many prestigious alternative label mates, Flor should be on your radar for artists to watch in 2016. Here are Fresh Penguins 3 favourite songs by Flor,

1. Get Behind This: Flor's first single yet the least streamed of their 6 song collection on Spotify (barely). The song is an indie dance anthem featuring a driving rythm and a catchy melody a la mode de Smallpools. It features memorable synths and a half time bridge to change up the song and give much needed release before building back to a climactic dance tune.

2. Back Again: One of the songs featured on the Sounds EP and the most streamed as of late on Spotify holding the number 1 spot on their spotify. It is an ambient pop song that is both upbeat and relaxing at the same time creating a great perplexion and a phenomenal song.

3. Heart: Flors most streamed song in total on Spotify. It is a slightly funkier verse than their typical upbeat song. Heart is deservedly their most popular song with a roaring chorus featuring uplifting lyrics.
